Paladin Tanks

They are awesome! I love running into an instance with my Paladin tank. The best spec for a Paladin tank is protection. I've been running into instances with my paladin and I've actually come across some tips that I can share to enhance your own paladin tank.

First things first, you have to get your defense to 540 to be capped. You want to keep your defense rating around the 540-560 marks. After you are capped the number one thing you need to do is get 30k health. I've tanked with 22k, 25k, 27k and 29k health before buffs. As you get more health you will notice it will be easier to get and hold threat.

The main thing you need to remember is that as the tank you need to be able to hold threat in various different fights. You have plate armor and a defense rating of 540 to reduce the critical hits, you need this so you can keep the enemies off of your party members that can do high damage per second and more importantly, keeping your healer alive!

That's all for this post, there will be more coming in the days ahead.

you should try and get some better armor etc. that possibly raises your defence level but ur pretty well off. if ur gunna try and tank 80 heroics definatly get ur defence rating over 80...

I think most people look towards paladins now for tanking (and possibly DPS with the Retribution spec). Paladins can heal well if you spec for it, but it'll make it more difficult to level.

Blacksmithing doesn't contribute much to a Pally Tank as it's more Physical DPS oriented. And Pally tanks rely on a Spell Damage weapon for Threat.

I mainly know if people would rather have a paladin in their group who heals or tanks. Which is better? Easier to level?

If you guys are running any instances, I would stay holy. DPS spots are pretty easy to fill when you have a tank and healer in the party already.

Now if we could get one for DKs and warriors too we'd be all set

@ Properties in Bangalore...if you are running a paladin tank, I would recommend taking mining for the toughness bonus to your stamina and enchanting for the bonus of enchanting your rings. I took mining and Jewel crafting on my tank, the +51 stamina JC only gems are quite nice especially when you first max out your level. Happy gaming!
